It’s fair to say that wellness travel is likely to change quite a lot in the near future. I’m not convinced, for example, that we’ll be in a hurry to book something as ‘social distancing’ un-friendly as a massage or a facial any time soon. Nor hop on a crowded plane to get there. So how are spas and wellness retreats going to adapt?
"People feel safer when they’ve got more space and fresh air around them, so I think rural retreats with the capacity to spread things out and to do more outdoors will fare the best,” says Frances Geoghegan, Managing Director of HeaIing Holidays.
Most of us will feel happier going somewhere we can drive to or, for those who do that kind of thing, take a private plane to (“I’m now working with twice as many private jet companies as before due to the surge in demand,” says Geoghegan)."
