Indian Government Reduces Visa Fees


The Indian Tourism Ministry is introducing a more flexible e-visa system, which is based on tourism footfall in the country to increase the growth of tourism in India. Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel has announced a reduction in visa fees for tourists based on peak and lean seasons. A one-month e-visa fee will now be $25 from July to March and a $10 fee from April to June. In addition, a new five-year e-tourist visa will be introduced at a fee of $80 and a one-year e-tourist visa of $40. 

The announcement was made by the Tourism Minister at the inauguration of State Tourism Ministers' conference on Tuesday. The Ministry also clarified that the visa fee reduction is under consideration of the Ministry of External Affairs.
